Claudette Christie
Ms. Claudette Christie is the Group Marketing & Communications Manager at the Jamaica Cooperative Credit Union League, where she has been employed for over 20 years.
Hers is the voice of the Credit Union League, LITERALLY. She is voice of the league’s automated switchboard and also on the weekly radio programme – “Your Credit Union Today”.
Ms. Christie is both a graduate of the Shortwood Teachers College and of the University of the West Indies with a Bachelors of Education Degree. Her career in media began at the now defunct Jamaica Record as proofreader, progressed to copy editor, and eventually news editor.
Ms. Christie started at the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) as a news editor/producer/presenter and rose to the position of Editor-in-Chief. In addition, she successfully completed a U S A I D fellowship in 1997 to study Radio Broadcasting in the United States.
In her current job, Ms. Christie is responsible for the marketing and communications of the Credit Unions of Jamaica brand and all the JCCUL subsidiaries (Cumax Wealth Management, Quality Network and Centralized Strategic Services). She is often seen giving interviews on television and at various functions along with the developing and publishing of the monthly credit union page to keep the Credit Union Movement and the public informed of developments within the local and international credit union communities.
Ms. Christie is also a certified Master of Ceremonies and is heavily involved in community outreach activities/corporate social responsibility programmes on behalf of JCCUL designed to help in particularly young disengaged men and disadvantaged children.
Ms. Christie is committed to education, and demonstrates this by the extensive training she has had in a number of disciplines, including an Executive MBA from the University of New Orleans, majoring in Marketing and Communication.
